The basics of Trade and Trade Finance

This foundational course has been designed as an awareness course to those who are new to trade and trade finance to give them an understanding of the world of trade and trade finance.

The key objective is for the participants to gain basic knowledge of how global trade works, and role of trade finance. Focus will be on terminologies and procedures used in trade finance, description of products and their application, risk identification and mitigations. Given the importance of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and that of Boosting of Intra Africa Trade (BIAT), special mention has been given to topics that will enable participants appreciate their importance and how they work.

The training is structured as four online modules gradually introducing participants to the subject of Trade Finance.

Quizzes are deployed at the end of each module and an exam provided at the end of the course.

Upon completion, participants are free to download their Certificates of Participation.

First of all, ensure you have clicked the link sent to your email from Africa Risk Management Advisors (check spam if you can’t find it in your inbox) to activate your account. If you have done the above and still can’t log in, then choose the “Lost Password” option and check your email for password reset instructions.
After logging in, click on the gear/settings icon next to your name at the top-right and you will see the course(s) assigned to your account in the “My Courses” tab.
You simply click on the “Complete” button at the end/bottom of the lesson and then click on the name of the next lesson with the arrow pointing right in order to proceed to the next lesson, OR click on the name of the previous lesson with the arrow pointing left in order to track back to the previous lesson.
After logging in, click on the gear/settings icon next to your name at the top-right and you will see “My Quizzes” tab next to “My Courses” tab under the “Home” tab.
Simply click the name of the course on top of the page and then choose the FAQ tab.
While studying your course (any lesson open), click on the hamburger (3 lines menu) icon on the top left of all the courses and units/sections.
When you are in the specific lessons about whose discussion you want to have, you click the “?” question mark on the top right of the lesson and you will find questions that have been asked by fellow students for you to help by answering or having a discussion below it. You could also introduce a new subject by adding a new question by choosing “My Question” option and type your question for others to discuss with you.
You could either click on the link in the email OR while logged in to the website, click on the gear/settings button on the top-right of the page and choose the “Notifications” tab where you will find all your notifications categorized under “Unread”, “Read” and “Everything”.
While logged in the website, click on the gear/settings button on the top-right of the page and hover/click the “Picture” icon next to your name and then select the image/photo you want to use from your device. Once uploaded, save the changes.
While logged in the website, click on the gear/settings button on the top-right of the page and choose “MY CERTIFICATES” menu below your username. You will find certificates for courses that you have completed and passed on our platform. You can download them as many times as you need, and you could always come back in future to download them if need be.
While logged in the website, click on the gear/settings button on the top-right of the page and choose the “EDIT PROFILE” menu below your username.
While logged in the website, click on the gear/settings button on the top-right of the page and choose the “Settings” tab, and below it, choose the “Email” tab.
While logged in the website, click on your username on the top-right of the page and choose the “Logout” option from the drop-down menu.
Yes, you can take a break and come back later at a time that is convenient for you. When you come back and log back into the platform (even if you are using a different device), you just click on the gear icon next to your username at the top right and click on “continue” your course.
Yes. But be careful. Once you delete an account, your data – including course purchases/orders, course and quizzes progress, certificates earned by successful completion of courses, and passing of tests - is permanently lost and you can’t contact us for your account information thereafter. In order to delete your account, while logged in to the website, click on the gear/settings button on the top-right of the page and choose the “Settings” tab, and below it, choose the “Delete Account” tab.
