About Course

Course Curriculum

The contents of this program were developed in close consultation with prominent GRC practitioners. The programme therefore combines the best knowledge, management tools and GRC frameworks to provide the best value to the participants.

This programme addresses five domains that a typical risk manager should understand about their enterprise:

  • Day 1: Analyzing the Business/operating Model

Participants will, inter alia,

  1. Appreciate business/operating models, strategies and value chains as a precursor to objective setting and risk identification.
  2. Understand internal and external (competitive) landscapes in order to achieve a risk-adjusted performance
  3. Consolidate information by compiling, organizing, synthesizing, and prioritizing based on relevance to specific organizational objectives, threats and opportunities.
  4. Analyze operations by validating and comparing actual operations with the intended business/operating model and strategy.
  5. Conduct benchmarks, such as with peers or industry partners.
  6. Describe and understand an organization’s value chain to recognize which activities are the most valuable.
  7. Identify organizational uncertainties utilizing various techniques and methods.
  8. Develop an GRC Gap Analysis and Maturity rating.
  9. Build a business case for GRC.
  • Day 2: Designing Organizational GRC Strategies

GRC Strategies must be designed to fit the strategic objectives of the business. Participants will, inter alia:

  1. Learn to define organizational GRC competency capabilities.
  2. Define success measures that align Governance, risk, strategy with organizational performance.
  3. Design risk governance arrangements clearly defining roles and responsibilities.
  4. Design a GRC strategy implementation plan.
  5. Develop GRC communication strategies.
  6. Obtain organizational support for GRC strategy.
  7. Explain the qualities and characteristics of information required in GRC management and how they are organized, prioritized and communicated.
  8. Apply a holistic GRC management approach, integrated throughout the enterprise.
  9. Understand the Key issues the Board needs to know about GRC
  • Day 3: Implementing the GRC Process:

Participants will, inter alia:

  1. Understand the application of GRC as a tool to identify, analyze, evaluate and monitor risk situations as well as to design a roadmap for GRC implementation.
  2. Appreciate GRC as a management process that focuses on risk/return dynamics.
  3. Describe business processes (BP) and identify internal and external sources of information that could potentially affect the achievement of an organization’s BP objectives.
  4. Review the Risk Management processes per various GRC Standards
  5. Implement the combined assurance model.
  • Day 4: Developing Organizational GRC Competency

Participants will, inter alia

  1. Develop an understanding of the essential content of an effective GRC training programme for stakeholders.
  2. Deliver GRC training.
  3. Engage an organization’s GRC network.
  4. Coach an organization on the GRC process and techniques.
  5. Continuously improve the GRC process.
  6. Integrate GRC strategy-setting into day-to-day operations.
  • Day 5: Supporting Decision Making

Participants will, inver alia

  1. Learn how to Influence risk-based decision making.
  2. Learn how to Facilitate risk discussions.
  3. Understand disruption and prepare the organization to deal with disruptions.
  4. Establish the right culture and mind-set that mitigates Risk and maximizes return.
  5. Adapt GRC strategy to different risk profiles and strategic objectives.
  6. Develop a comprehensive GRC Readiness Guide.
